ASHRAE Standard 62.2-2010

So much talk in the building industry these days seems to be about ventilation, specifically, ASHRAE 62.2-2010. This is the standard that is being adopted by many states for code compliance, as well as by weatherization programs across the country.   With the new standard comes plenty of confusion, and plenty of scrambling to understand and implement the standard.  In reviewing the ASHRAE 62.2 -2010 standard, it becomes clear that compliance is a challenge with a conventional exhaust-only (bath fan and direct vent range hood) system.  However, with a whole house-balanced ventilation system, the whole issue goes away.

Using heat recovery ventilation dramatically improves comfort and energy use.  Zehnder America designs and commissions systems to meet and exceed ASHRAE 62.2-2010, and the results are typically better with regards to fresh air in ALL ROOMS in the house, and improved comfort with incoming, replacement air being very close to the inside air temperature.  So if this new standard is a concern, you can breathe easy with a Zehnder ComfoSystem installation.
